Fires, around the world have exactly the same properties. Though construction practises and approaches to tackling fire around the world are similar, there are always unique approaches and views every region has gravitated towards. As building material producers continue to become global suppliers, similarities of intent building codes and approaches to compartmentalizing fires have become more noticeable. Professionals across the Firestopping and Compartmentation Industry have been organizing in several countries to agree on a quality management system based harmonised approach for delivering effective passive fire protection. The Global Language of Firestopping aims to share how the DIIM approach (proper ‘D’esign, ‘I’nstallation, ‘I’nspection, and ‘M’aintaining) has evolved into an industry standard. The talk explains the DIIM approach, delving into a Code-Neutral approach being adopted across several countries as well as industries. And how offerings from competing international conformity assessments bodies and accreditation bodies are enabling greater transparency; helping governments, financial institutions, insurance companies and legal entities clearly define responsibilities and liabilities.
