Shae started in fire protection as a sprinkler fitting apprentice in 2002, employed by a fire company servicing a wide variety of sites including many high-risk and high profile businesses. With exposure to a diverse range of wet systems equipment, Shae began specializing on routine service with a focus on flow testing. In 2009 Shae commenced teaching the sprinkler fitting apprenticeship at RMIT and eventually moved on to run his own business contracting flow testing services to industry. Shae was employed by FPA Australia in 2017 as a wet systems subject matter expert where he is currently employed, and he proudly sits on the Sprinkler and Hydrant Australian Standards committees.
