From 1997 until 2012, Ivan was General Manager, ABCB and Chair of the Board’s Building Codes Committee. He was closely involved in the implementation of the performance-based code, efforts to achieve national solutions to issues of risk and on-going efforts to ensure that industry and building practitioners had a voice in the challenges faced by Australia’s ever-changing building regulation regime.
Since retirement from the ABCB. Ivan has been an independent consultant on the building and construction industry, particularly in the area of building regulation reform. From 2013, he chaired the NSW Industry/Government Committee oversighting implementation of a $200 million program to mandate and retrofit fire sprinklers in NSW nursing homes following an earlier tragic arson and murder case in Sydney.
