Ryan Cleggett

National President, Institution of Fire Engineers Australia

Ryan Cleggett is a distinguished fire safety professional with over 15 years of experience in both permanent and volunteer firefighting roles. He holds a Master’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering, a Master’s degree in Science, with a specialty in occupational safety and an MBA. He has expertise in fire safety engineering, management, workplace safety, risk assessment, and occupational health. Throughout his multifaceted career, Ryan has made significant contributions to fire operations, research, and building fire safety teams, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the field.

In addition to his operational roles, Ryan has been an active member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Australia board since 2019, serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and currently as President. His leadership and dedication were recognized internationally when he was elected Vice-Leader of the IFE’s International General Assembly in January 2025, bringing a valuable international perspective to the organization’s activities.

Ryan’s unique blend of practical firefighting experience and academic expertise positions him as a leading voice in the fire safety community, committed to advancing safety standards and promoting excellence through collaboration within the industry.
