AS1841 & a new section lithium-ion battery fire extinguishers

AS1841 Fire Extinguishers and AS1850 testing of fire extinguishers are two standards linked to each other and determine how Fire Extinguishers are made, tested and labelled. These standards have not been reviewed for 18 years and are well overdue for a major overhaul.

Over the last 18 years there are new significant fire risks which the current standards do not address. The standards writing committee FP3 is in the process of drafting 2 additional sections to the standards to cope with some of these changes which will cover Lithium Batteries and Ethanol Fuel risks.
