FPA Australia – Who we are

Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) is the national peak body for fire safety, representing a diverse network of professionals across the fire protection industry. As a not-for-profit organisation, it supports safer communities by delivering industry-leading accreditation through the Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS), high-quality training via its Registered Training Organisation (RTO 20851), and expert technical guidance and advocacy to influence standards and regulation. Representing around 30,000 individuals, FPA Australia is committed to raising professionalism, capability, and accountability across the sector.

At the Fire Australia tradeshow, Membership and Customer Service Manager Sharon Uncle and Business Development Manager Chris McAlinden will welcome attendees and provide an overview of the association, highlighting the value and benefits of becoming a member.

Key Focuses: As Business Development Manager (BDM), my focuses include enhancing member engagement to increase awareness of the value and benefits of membership and growing the membership base through acquisition and retention efforts – including further development of the Affiliate Program to provide better connection and understanding across all industry stakeholders.

Time in Role: Will be 18 months at time of FA26

Industry Experience: Extensive industry experience across various roles, including Sales, Business Development, Account Management, and practical inspection and testing within fire equipment supply and fire services maintenance. This experience has provided me with a thorough understanding of the many roles and responsibilities we all play to ensure safety and compliance across the built environment and guides my approach when delivering meaningful services and support to our members and Affiliates, ensuring the evolving needs of industry are understood and addressed.

Future Activity: Exciting times ahead as we continue to improve services, structures, and initiatives that genuinely support our members and strengthen the broader fire protection industry. These advancements will help drive greater value, connection, and impact for members, industry, and communities.
