An examination of the legal responsibilities and the practical application of these legal responsibilities for certifiers of fire systems in NSW

The certification of fire systems is a critical aspect to ensuring fire safety within the build environment.

This presentation will examine the legal requirements that govern certification of fire systems in NSW.

It will examine the relevant legislation along with the relevant case law that define the legal responsibilities of fire system certifiers.

It will also provide some practical applications of how fire system certification practitioners can comply with their legal responsibilities by using the above legal principles.

Darin has worked in the fire industry for over 30 years working as a consulting engineer, peer reviewer, independent verifier, system designer, system certifier, project manager and technician.

Darin been a trainer and assessors for over 15 years including undertaking occupation skill analysis assessment design & instructional design.

Darin holds the following qualifications: Master of Design Science (Building Services), Dip of Fire System Design, Dip of Project Management, Cert IV in Training & Assessment.
