A New Era of Global Fire Monitoring

What if every fire agency had detailed knowledge of all bushfires in their region…every 20 minutes…at metres scale…globally?

How would it change how we work with fire?

With the recent fires in California, we are reminded that bushfires can strike with extreme intensity at any time, they are no longer limited to season or region. Earth Fire Alliance is a global non-profit committed to delivering transformative real-time data from all fires on Earth. The result of a unique convergence of philanthropy and cross-industry innovation, Earth Fire Alliance is on track to launch and build out FireSat – a first-of-its-kind satellite constellation focused on fire – providing rapid, accurate, and comprehensive data on a global scale. FireSat’s instrumentation will provide near-real-time data on fire starts, spread, intensity, perimeter, and carbon impacts. FireSat will enable us to change how the world views fire and adapt to our changing climate. The system has been designed through direct and continued involvement of a growing community of fire agencies to ensure the technology works seamlessly with existing resources. It is not just an incremental change, it’s a systemic shift in fire monitoring capability in response to emerging needs and focused on accessible, public good data.
