AS1851 the journey has commenced

The Fire Protection market is estimated to have generated $4.0 billion in revenue in 2024, and maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment represents approx. 40% of this of this revenue.

Standards Australia has commenced through their committee FP-001 the revision project of AS1851-2012. AS1851 underpins the day to day activities of maintaining these essential safety measures in the built environment across Australia.

Over 700 comments for improvements were received by the various stakeholders, practitioners, fire service contractors, and no doubt these comments will be invaluable in producing a new AS1851 that provides clarity on the tasks that need to be performed, and meeting community expectations on building safety.

But where is it all heading? In this presentation and update on the progress to date of FP-001 meetings, details on the 700 comments received by the committee and what stage the project has progressed within Standards Australia’s six step process.
