Polyaire Commercial Site Fire – Cause and Impact

The Polyaire Factory Fire Investigation was a complex test of multiple hypotheses showcasing the many units both within FRNSW and the private sector, working together for a safer community. The investigation showcases how the result of a natural cause was determined. Its a testament to all involved to have found the cause and origin, and provided Polyaire with a preventative method moving forward.

Station Officer/Fire Investigator, Fire and Rescue NSW

Has been employed with FRNSW since 2006 and is a qualified  Fire Investigator ,Rescue Technician ,Hazmat Technician and Remotely Piloted Aircraft pilot.
During the incident presented, I was attached to the Fire Investigation and Research Unit and was the on call investigator that day.
This incident was complex and challenging and showcases the diversity of directorates within FRNSW and the private sector working together to achieve a result, leading to further prevention for our customers and a safer community.

Nik Sutarov

Private Forensic Fire Examiner, Halliwell Global

Nick is an accomplished Forensic Fire Investigator with scientific qualifications and an insurance background. He has training and experience in the fields of forensic investigation and scene investigation, specialising in fire and explosion investigations. Nick has conducted examinations of structural and mechanical fires throughout Australia including residential, commercial, industrial structures, motor vehicles, boats, heavy equipment, manufacturing process, electrical fire causation and electrical systems (including AC and DC equipment and circuits).

Nick has strong insurance knowledge gained while working for one of the largest Insurance companies in Australia. His insurance knowledge allows him to consider compliance, underwriting and non-disclosure issues when examining fires and making enquiries.

He also has a family background in the transport industry, which adds to his experience in compliance of dangerous goods storage and transport.

Nick has been employed with Halliwell, formally known GKA Investigations Group since 2014. He is currently the Director of Halliwell Forensics Australia and New Zealand.
