This lecture will explore the critical role of private fire departments as an Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in the enforcement and oversight of fire safety regulations. In particular, the Querétaro Fire Department is highlighted as a case study in the role of public-private partnerships. This case study will examine how private fire services contribute to fire safety approvals, building inspections, and work cohesively with public safety officials in both commercial and industrial settings.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how private fire departments can function as an AHJ, using a public-private partnership model in emergency preparedness, mitigation, and response. The session will provide practical insights into regulatory challenges, enforcement mechanisms, and best practices based on real-world experiences from Querétaro.
