Richard Mills is a distinguished fire service executive with over 30 years in the London Fire Brigade (LFB), culminating in his role as Deputy Commissioner. A transformative leader, he spearheaded critical advancements in high-rise firefighting tactics, emergency response innovation, and firefighter safety. His leadership during major incidents, including the London riots, the Mandarin Oriental hotel fire, and the Grenfell Tower fire, demonstrates his expertise in crisis management and operational resilience.

 

A driving force behind modernization, Richard led the implementation of the Fire Survival Guidance App, secured the Marauding Terrorist Agreement, and strengthened firefighter mental health support. His strategic oversight was pivotal in navigating LFB through the COVID-19 pandemic and shaping the future of fire service leadership.

 

Since retiring in 2022, Richard has become a sought-after keynote speaker, guest lecturer, and corporate advisor.
